On May 20 we returned to Poland, to our house and belongings.  Our van suffered from parts scavengers with stolen headlights and turn signals and a window removed so the thieves could look around inside.  However, nothing  else of value was stolen, and we are thankful.

There was an attempt to get in the house, but the girls who were staying here were startled into attention at 2 am when the would-be burglars tried to break the door down with a fence post.  We

think they were surprised that  the door didn’t shatter (it is metal). Instead, the lights flipped on, the police were called, and the thieves ran away.

Thank you for praying for us as we read

just to the culture of central Europe.  In many ways we could hardly wait to get back and leave the “rat race” of fast-paced America.

Mike has been busy trying to get the family set up before he leaves by train for Romania where he is teaching in Fetesti, a small city near the Black Sea.  This will be the first of such courses.

In the next prayer letter we should let you know how that time went.

For wisdom as we survey Slovakia’s various towns
Safety for Mike as he travels, and safety for Becky and the children when he isn’t able to be at home
For all the legal aspects of our house to move speedily along. Some things must be done before we can sell the house. We cannot move until we can sell the house.
For boldness and ability to witness to our neighbors and others with whom we have contact.

 supply this need.

Text Box: Breaking with Tradition
Text Box: Because of communism, neighbors here tend to be quite suspicious of each other. (Each was afraid someone else would turn them in to the police for something.) So, it was quite a surprise and delight to us when our neighbors came over to us and warmly welcomed us back.
We are thankful for this small step because while we have tried to be friendly, several times our gestures of friendship have been greeted with less than cordial efforts! However, now each of the them seems to be quite open to us personally.
Please pray that the Lord would enlarge these opportunities as long as we are in Poland. We ask your prayers for the words to say and continued contacts with
